Unit History & Origins
The 46th Infantry Division was activated in 1947 as part of the Michigan Army National Guard, taking over duties from earlier Midwest formations. Known as the Ironfist Division, its soldiers served through two decades of Cold War service before being reorganised in 1968. This emblem represents a notable era of post-war American unit history.
Insignia & Technical Construction
The badge features a central gold clenched fist embroidered on a deep blue shield background. Measuring 6.5cm x 7.5cm, the patch is made using dense thread stitching with a finished outer border. The reverse side reveals standard white bobbin threads, showing period military manufacturing methods and solid structural strength.
