Wartime Service Issue
Standard issue for American troops during World War II, the US Army garrison cap served as practical summer service headwear. Adapted from European overseas patterns, it provided a functional alternative to stiff service caps for garrison duties, travel, and camp life.
Foldable Cotton Twill
Constructed from lightweight khaki cotton twill, the cap is engineered to fold flat. This allowed soldiers to stow the cap easily inside a pocket or under a belt when donning steel combat helmets in the field.
Branch Piping and Markings
The cap features distinct branch-of-service piping along the curtain edge, identifying specific military roles such as infantry, artillery, or air corps. The interior preserves original wartime contract details and inspection stamps.
