Military Heritage and Origin
First created in Berlin in 1935 by Hildebrand, Scho-Ka-Kola earned fame as an issue ration during the Second World War. Known to crews as Fliegerschokolade (aviator's chocolate), it was distributed to Luftwaffe pilots and tank crews to sustain mental alertness and ward off fatigue on long combat sorties.
Caffeine Formula and Energy
The name comes from its core ingredients: Schokolade, Kaffee, and Kolanuss. Each 100g tin delivers 200mg of natural caffeine sourced from 2.6% roasted coffee and 1.6% kola nut powder. Eating eight wedges provides the energy boost of a strong cup of coffee, backed by 553 kcal of quick field fuel.
Field Tin and Rationing
This Vollmilch (milk chocolate) recipe combines a minimum of 30% cocoa with 18% milk solids for a smooth taste. The chocolate is pressed into 16 triangular wedges across two stacked layers inside a reusable metal tin. Press the lid rim to open, giving you clean, portioned trail rations without mess.
