Late Cold War Pedigree
Originally issued to the Czechoslovak People’s Army (ČSLA) in the mid-1980s, the vz. 85 parka—often nicknamed the 'Kongo'—replaced older patterned jackets. Built to endure biting Central European winters, this parka is made from a tough, densely woven cotton-polyester canvas shell. It resists tearing on briars and campfires better than modern civilian synthetics.
Modular Thermal Protection
The heart of this winter coat is its heavy, button-in grey pile lining, historically called the 'čert' or devil liner. This high-loft synthetic fleece covers the body and sleeves for sub-zero warmth. You can easily strip the liner, the plush faux-fur collar, and the wind-hood away, transforming it into a lightweight, breathable shell for cool spring or autumn tasks.
Field-Ready Utility
Every detail is geared toward sealing out drafts. A full-length metal zipper sits beneath a button-down storm flap, backed by knitted internal cuffs that stop cold air crawling up your sleeves. Drawcords at the waist and bottom hem let you adjust the fit to trap heat, while button-flap chest pockets and waist slash pockets keep your bushcraft tools within quick reach.

This item was used by the Czech Army during the Late Cold War (1961–1991) and is in Grade 1 condition. It is in very good condition with plenty of life left. We recommend giving it a wash before wearing.
