This original South African SADF Marine Qualification Badge is genuine military surplus from the 1980s Border War era.
1 Marine Brigade History
Introduced in the early 1980s, this qualification badge was awarded to 1 Marine Brigade personnel upon completing basic training during the South African Border War. The unit served as amphibious light infantry and harbour defence before being disbanded in 1990.
Design and Metal Fittings
The badge features a central globe grid pattern framed by a laurel wreath and a slanted naval anchor motif. It has an antique brass finish and measures 4cm by 4cm. Two rear pin posts provide secure attachment to a jacket or display board.
