Historical Division Insignia
Established in 1925 as a National Guard unit from New England, the 43rd Infantry Division served with distinction across the Pacific Theater during World War II. Nicknamed the Winged Victory Division, its soldiers wore this shoulder sleeve insignia through major island campaigns including New Guinea and Luzon.
Symbolic Patch Design
The emblem features a black grape leaf embroidered on a red quatrefoil background. The four lobes represent the division's founding home states of Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Measuring approximately 6cm by 6cm, the distinctive grape leaf references the historical Norse name Vinland for the New England region.
